Your first visit

Here's exactly
what to expect.

A lot of people put off calling because they don't know what happens next. This page answers that. No surprises.

Before your visit

What you need to have ready.

Not much. Your first visit is a conversation, not a form-filling exercise.

What you do not need

Insurance · A referral · Lab results · Prior treatment records · A prior diagnosis · Any specific app — we use a standard secure video link sent to you before the visit

During your visit

What happens, in order.

Most first visits take 30 to 45 minutes. Here is what that time covers.

0–5 min

Brief introduction

Your physician confirms your identity, explains how the visit works, and answers any immediate questions you have before you start.

5–20 min

Your history

A conversation about your substance use — what you've been using, how long, how much, and what's happened when you've tried to stop. This is not an interrogation. The physician is building a clinical picture so they can help you. You will not be judged for what you share.

20–35 min

Your health picture

General health history, any other medications, any prior mental health or medical conditions. If you have depression, anxiety, ADHD, or alcohol use alongside opioid use disorder, this is where that comes up.

35–45 min

Treatment plan and next steps

Your physician explains the treatment plan, what dose they recommend, how to start, and what to expect in the first few days. Your prescription is sent to your pharmacy before the visit ends.

The prescription

Same day.

Your physician sends the prescription to the pharmacy of your choice during or immediately after the visit. Most patients pick it up the same day.

Your physician will explain exactly how to start — dosing, what to expect in the first few days, and how to reach us if you have questions afterward.
